I believe those seeking public office should be as transparent as possible. This doesn't just mean answering post and messages on time. Nor does it mean occasionally holding surgeries - especially if they are when most people are working. It means being open about what you believe in, what you are doing and encouraging others to be more open. New technology offers a unique opportunity to start a new revolution of openness in politics. It is for this reason that I am going to be uploading a new weekly video diary.
I am uploading all my campaign videos onto YouTube so anyone can watch them. Here's a sample of some of the videos I have done so far. If you feel strongly about one of my videos please leave a comment and if you'd like me to comment back please say so. You can view all my videos on Youtube here.

VIDEO: One year of fighting for South West Devon 13 September 2008
Luke Pollard has thanked members from South West Devon for their support during his first year as their Propective Parliamentary Candidate. Luke said: "over the last year we have delivered more than 20,000 leaflets and fought on issues that really mater to local people like asking where the Plymstock Pool is twenty years after the Tories promised one, asking if Chaddlewood Fields are safe from sale or calling for a new library in Plympton before and after the fire. The past year has been a real challenge but very good fun. It is tough being a Labour PPC at the moment, or so I'm told. I'm grateful for the work of party members in supporting our campaigns. Gary Streeter has the toughest opposition he's had in years. If he is to be re-elected he'll have to fight for it not rely on national swing to carry him through".
VIDEO: More speed humps for Larkham Lane 6 September 2008
The Tory Council have released more proposals for speed humps on Larkham Lane in Plympton. Local Tory Councillor, Patrick Nicholson, was elected on a ticket opposing speed humps now the Tory council is wanting to introduce new ones. Labour supports new speed humps but only with the support of the local community.
Luke said: "Larkham Lane residents have long suffered from heavy traffic right outside their doorsteps. It is right that the Council is looking at ways to reduce the traffic but it seems utterly hypocritical to have the local Tory Councillor elected on a ticket of opposing speed humps only to have the Tory Council introduce plans for more. It is about time that the residents were listened to. That is why today the Plympton Labour Campaign Team were out talking to lcoal residents asking for their views. Let me be clear Labour is open-minded about speed humps. When used correctly they can have a massively positive impact but only with the support of the local community."
